We started because genetic testing was either overhyped or inaccessible. We wanted it to be neither.
GeneLens was founded in 2019 by Dr. Lisa Huang and a team of molecular geneticists who had spent years doing the kind of research that rarely reaches the patients it's meant to help. The gap between what genomics can tell us and what people actually know about their own DNA was wide - and closing it seemed like worthwhile work.
We set out to build a consumer genetics platform that doesn't make promises the science can't keep. That meant starting with methodology: rigorous laboratory standards, honest confidence intervals, and report language that treats customers as intelligent adults.
Today, GeneLens has analyzed over 2.4 million genetic profiles and continues to expand its report library as the research evolves. Our headquarters are in Cambridge, MA, a few blocks from the institutions where much of this science was first developed.
Make genomic knowledge accessible, accurate, and actionable for everyone - not just patients in clinical settings or researchers with lab access.
We don't add a report to our product until the underlying science meets our internal evidence threshold. Some common consumer genetics claims don't clear that bar. We skip those.
Your DNA is yours. We operate under HIPAA, never sell data, and support full data deletion. Genetic privacy isn't a policy - it's built into how we designed the system.
Our offices are at 245 First Street, Suite 1800, Cambridge, MA 02142 - in the heart of the Kendall Square biotech cluster. We're neighbors with research hospitals, genomics companies, and the academic institutions whose work underpins our own.
